Octavio Quintanilla’s FRONTEXTO project, (the term frontexto is a blend of frontera and texto, border/text) began on New Year’s Day of 2018 as a challenge to himself to carve some time out of each day to write. His goal was to write a poem each day in Spanish and post it on social media. Quintanilla’s daily practice quickly began to incorporate drawing and has become an exploration into the relationships of text and image. Octavio Quintanilla is the author of the poetry collection “If I Go Missing” (Slough Press, 2014) and is the 2018-2020 Poet Laureate of San Antonio.
