SAN ANTONIO (July 26, 2017) — Mayor Ron Nirenberg will be joined in his office Wednesday evening by San Antonio Police Chief William McManus for the next installment of his Facebook Live, giving both an opportunity to discuss public safety and answering questions posed by residents. The live discussion, which will start at 9 p.m., follows the mayor’s Monday night helicopter ride in the SAPD E.A.G.L.E and a Tuesday ride-a-long with members of the SAPD Street Crime Unit. Both are part of a larger listening tour the mayor has organized to better understand the needs of the community and those who serve them.

On Monday, the mayor will welcome the newest class of cadets at the San Antonio Police Training Academy at 8 a.m. The new class of about 50 cadets is the third group to begin training this year. The training academy is at 12200 SE Loop 410. Media are invited to cover the mayor’s remarks.

“I believe that San Antonio should be the biggest safe city in America,” Mayor Nirenberg said. “And I think that in order to get there, we need to understand the work that our San Antonio police officers are doing and understand how to best engage and represent the community that they serve. All of that starts with good communication and a willingness to be open and answer tough questions.”
