SAN ANTONIO (January 29, 2018) The one-stop Eastside Education & Training Center (EETC) hosted its 3rd graduating class at St. Phillips College – Watson Arts Auditorium last Saturday morning. 93 students from the Eastside graduated this year after completing their training in high demand occupations such as Certified Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Licensed Vocational Nursing, and Construction.

“What I find so powerful about the EETC graduates is the fact that each one of them has made the decision to change their lives forever by making huge sacrifices to show up to class each day and push through, giving it their all even when it wasn’t easy. A lot of our graduates have families and lives outside of school, but they made this commitment to themselves and now they will reap the benefits. Hard work always pays off,” said Councilman William ‘Cruz’ Shaw.

Since opening the one-stop workforce training center in January 2017, nearly 200 Eastside residents have completed their training and graduated from the EETC.

“Connecting residents to job training and employment opportunities is a top priority for the City of San Antonio. The EETC has been instrumental in improving the skill set of our Eastside residents and putting them on a career pathway,” said Dr. Mike Etienne, Director the Office of EastPoint.

The Eastside Education & Training Center is a one-stop training and education center for Eastside residents to connect them to job training and gainful employment. Info sessions are held at 9:00 a.m. every Tuesday. For more information about the EETC visit: https://www.sanantonio.gov/East-Point/PromiseZoneToWork/EETC
