SAN ANTONIO (Mar. 9, 2018) — Below is Councilman Clayton Perry’s statement on the overnight rescue that occurred at Robber Baron Cave on Camellia Way.
“I was so proud to watch the San Antonio Fire Department last night as they spent over ten hours total preparing and orchestrating the rescue of the young woman trapped in Robber Baron Cave. Their dedication to ensuring the safety and freedom of the student was palpable. From the technicalities of the rescue to the medical needs of the student, no stone was left unturned in analyzing the best path forward in the rescue operation. Witnessing the student brought up to the surface, unharmed and in good spirits, was a moment I will never forget.
I’d like to thank San Antonio Fire Chief Charles Hood for his leadership and the members of the special operations and medical units within the San Antonio Fire Department.
I am eternally grateful for the men and women of the San Antonio Fire Department. I know these crews will get some rest and then start a new shift ready to rescue again, and for that I am truly grateful.”
