SAN ANTONIO (March 29, 2018) — Today, the San Antonio Office of Emergency Management (SAOEM), in coordination with the San Antonio Police and Fire Departments, will launch the first video of the new “Ready to Respond” public awareness initiative. This video highlights the Department of Homeland Security’s “See Something Say Something” campaign and the City’s Big Red Backpack campaign by informing residents and visitors to San Antonio how to recognize and report suspicious activities. The Big Red Backpack officially launched on Monday in coordination with the NCAA Final Four public safety press conference. This new video further highlights the need for Final Four participants to be aware of their surroundings, trust their instincts, and report suspicious activity to the appropriate authorities.

Additional videos will be released in the weeks to come, and will inform the public on how to prevent, respond to, and work with first responders to recover from an active threat situation.

We encourage our local partners to share these important videos, which will be available on www.ReadySouthTexas.gov/watchstories and through the City’s social media pages.

For more information regarding the City’s Ready To Respond and Big Red Backpack campaigns, please contact Leigh Middleton with SAOEM at Leigh.Middleton@sanantonio.gov or (210)206-8552
