SAN ANTONIO (April 9, 2018) – San Antonio International Airport (SAT) hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Frontier Airlines this afternoon to celebrate its new non-stop flights to five cities: Cincinnati, Colorado Springs, Raleigh-Durham, San Jose, and Orlando. These new flights arrive just in time for summer vacation travel. Passengers boarded their non-stop flights to these new destinations on the ultra-low-cost carrier. Frontier will use its Airbus A319 and A320 on these weekly flights, each plane has a capacity of holding 150-180 passengers. With this launch, Frontier now serves fourteen destinations in San Antonio.
“These new flights offer travelers access to some of the most popular destinations with icons and landmarks like Walt Disney World, the Golden Gate Bridge and the Garden of the Gods. This is also an opportunity for tourists in these cities to visit the number one tourism destination in Texas: San Antonio,” said Russ Handy, Aviation Director for the City of San Antonio.
The new flights represent a 214% year to year growth for the airline in the month of April. Frontier is the second largest carrier at SAT in terms of destinations.
