SAN ANTONIO (April 9, 2018) – Mayor Ron Nirenberg and District 8 Councilman Manny Pelaez joined Work Out Help Out on Saturday afternoon at Hardberger Park for ‘Get Strong with Mayor Ron,’ a health and wellness initiative intended to elevate fitness and nutrition programs throughout the city.
This was the second event in the ‘Get Strong with Mayor Ron’ series. It drew close to 100 community members, who worked with the nonprofit group Work Out Help Out to beautify Hardberger Park’s dog park with a fresh layer of mulch.
“It’s exciting to see our community come together to participate in service projects and also get in a good work out,” Mayor Nirenberg said. “This is what makes San Antonio so wonderful — we’re a city whose residents are committed to helping their neighbors and are stepping up to take care of their health and wellbeing.”
The next ‘Get Strong with Mayor Ron’ event will take place in early June, and will bring a nutrition component to the series.
‘Get Strong with Mayor Ron’ is spearheaded by the Mayor’s Fitness Council. The mission of the Mayor’s Fitness Council is to lead San Antonio to be one of the healthiest and most active communities in the nation which residents, groups, and organizations work collaboratively to achieve targeted health and fitness goals.
