WHAT:

San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg and District 1 Councilman Roberto Treviño will join the CHEF (Culinary Health Education for Families) team Saturday morning for a healthy cooking lesson. City leaders will learn how to whip up a healthy breakfast frittata in the teaching kitchen at The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio.

The event will be broadcast live on the Mayor’s Facebook page. The cooking lesson is part of “Get Strong with Mayor Ron,” a fitness and health initiative managed by the Mayor’s Fitness Council that elevates local fitness and nutrition resources in the community. This is the third event in a series.

Since its launch at The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio in 2015, CHEF has offered culinary medicine training in a state-of-the-art teaching kitchen, teaching basic nutrition and practical cooking skills in order to combat the rising rates of diet-related disease in our community. CHEF at The Children’s Hospital is part of a larger CHEF network of community teaching kitchens in San Antonio, made possible with funding from Goldsbury Foundation.
