SAN ANTONIO (June 13, 2018) – Today, the Ethics Review Board presented their recommended changes to the City’s Ethics Code and Municipal Campaign Finance Code to the City Council. District 7 Councilwoman Ana Sandoval released the following statement on the proposed recommendations:

“The Ethics Review Board has worked on these improvements for over two years, met with each council member, and presented to the Governance Committee and the City Council twice. The recommendations they presented today were nearly identical to those we heard last year and for a good reason: they are right for our City.”

“While some continue to say that our system isn’t broken, I have heard directly from District 7 residents about the need for improvements. We had the opportunity to act on these recommendations last year and chose to wait. Choosing to pass up this opportunity yet again sends the wrong message to our residents.”

“If we’re serious about ensuring our government processes are transparent and fair, then we can’t wait. Let’s do the right thing and strengthen our City’s Ethics and Municipal Campaign Finance Codes.”
