SAN ANTONIO (July 13, 2018) — Mayor Ron Nirenberg on Friday appointed Lionel Sosa as a tri-chair of the Alamo Citizens Advisory Committee.
Sosa is joining Sue Ann Pemberton and Councilman Roberto Treviño as leaders of the citizens committee, which is gathering public input on plans to transform Alamo Plaza. He is filling the position vacated by Marise McDermott, who stepped down to focus on professional obligations.
“Lionel will bring fresh eyes and objectivity. He is dedicated to what is best for the Alamo and San Antonio,’’ said Mayor Nirenberg. “He brings gravitas and a deep understanding of San Antonio’s diverse culture to the committee. I am grateful to him for his willingness to serve.”
Sosa said, “The Alamo is San Antonio’s most iconic treasure. I am excited to play a part in working with the community to help develop a plan that ensures it will be preserved and properly showcased for the next 300 years.”
Mayor Nirenberg added, “Lionel’s decades of experience in marketing and communications and his vast knowledge of San Antonio’s cultural history uniquely position him to be an effective member of the Alamo Citizens Advisory Committee’s leadership team. He is an expert in engaging diverse cultures, storytelling and turning visions into reality.”
Sosa has a national renowned reputation for graphic design and advertising expertise.
