SAN ANTONIO (July 18, 2018) – According to the latest industry data, San Antonio International Airport (SAT) served more than 887,000 passengers in June—the highest number of customers served during any month in the history of SAT. June’s passenger statistics also marks the 24th consecutive month of record growth for SAT. Domestically, more than 849,000 passengers traveled through SAT and that represents an increase of 6.8% compared to the same time last year. International travel dropped by 4.6%. SAT is scheduled to have 10% more passenger seats in the second half of 2018 than the first half of the year, in time to support the summer travel season. “If the numbers continue to grow as we anticipate, we could realistically exceed the 10 million mark in passengers for 2018. This is a benchmark we would happily like to achieve this year,” said Russ Handy, Aviation Director for the City of San Antonio. More than 22,000,000 pounds of cargo passed through SAT in the month of June—an 8.2% year to year increase. This is nearly double the average cargo growth for North American airports.
