SAN ANTONIO (July 18, 2018) - By now we’re all used to the little pests that invade our backyards every summer…ants, mosquitoes, those annoying little gnats. Now, imagine finding a pair of pigs making themselves comfortable off your patio. It happened to a resident living near Lockhill Selma and 1604 on the City’s Northside several days ago. Last night, Animal Care Services picked up two Vietnamese pot belly pigs from a house off Hawthorn Woods after the owner says someone apparently opened her back gate, shooed them inside, and left. Swine of any sort, including pot belly pigs, is prohibited in San Antonio. The Animal Care Services Live Release team will be working with rescue partners to place the two young male pigs in homes out of the City limits. Shelter staff has named the pigs Luke Skyporker and Ham Solo.
*Media are welcome to come to the shelter to get video of the pigs. Please call 210-315-3130 to arrange SOT and escort to the livestock area.
