Enjoy Salsa Fest at Historic Market Square on August 4 and 5!

 

SAN ANTONIO (August 3, 2018) – The City of San Antonio invites the community to visit Market Square and La Villita this month for a wide variety of events.

Salsa Fest at Market Square

Saturday, Aug. 4 – Sunday, Aug. 5, starts at 12 p.m., FREE
It's Salsa Fest weekend at The Historic Market Square! On Saturday, August 4 we are mixing in Salsa music and dancing with our regular programming! Listen to the salsa sounds of Orquesta Tropicante starting at 2 p.m. on Saturday, and then come back on Sunday, August 5 for a salsa tasting competition between the vendors and restaurants of The Historic Market Square. Voting is open to the public until 4 p.m. to select the winner for the 2018 Historic Market Square Salsa Fest Crowd Favorite. The Palacios Bros will announce the winner at 5 p.m. during their set. Latin Roots Music & Food Festival – 300th Edition

Saturday, Aug. 4, 1 p.m. – 11 p.m., FREE
The Latin Roots Music & Food Fest – 300th Edition will feature Latino music, food and performances set in a festival style setting with craft vendors and artisans selling their work. This event will bring together the diverse groups of individuals in San Antonio to enjoy themselves and develop a better understanding of the Latino cultures as we share it with all who are visiting San Antonio. Yoga Around La Villita
Tuesday, Aug. 14 at 6:15 p.m., FREE
Need to unwind? Grab a friend and come participate in the Yoga Around La Villita series produced by La Villita and led by Mobile Om. The series occurs monthly through September. Free parking provided at all City of San Antonio lots and garages for Downtown Tuesday. Each hour-long session starts at 6:15 p.m. The next free session will be on Tuesday, August 14 at Bolivar Hall at La Villita. For more information, please visit La Villita’s Facebook event page,

Fiesta Noche del Rio at the Arneson River Theatre
Fridays and Saturdays, Aug. 3-4 and 10-11
Fiesta Noche del Rio is the oldest outdoor dance performance of its kind in the United States. Spanish for, “Party Night on the River,” it is an annual fund raising project held Fridays and Saturdays, from May through August 11, at the Arneson River Theatre. Produced by San Antonio’s Alamo Kiwanis Club, this cultural variety show features authentic Mexican, Spanish and Texan-based dancing and music performed by local professionals. Tickets can be purchased online through Eventbrite and at all H-E-B stores in the customer service department. Tickets are also available from noon to 8 p.m. on the day of the show at the river level of the Arneson Theatre and at the gate prior to the show, beginning at 6 p.m. Proceeds from the event support the mission of the Alamo Kiwanis Club.
