SAN ANTONIO (Oct. 2, 2018) – American Airlines (AA) announced today new daily nonstop service from San Antonio International Airport (SAT) to New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). This flight will provide expanded access to business and leisure travelers to the East coast and beyond, as the airline provides great international connectivity from JFK. More than 300,000 travelers fly between SAT and New York City each year.

“This is exciting news for San Antonio and our travelers, because there is a growing demand from leisure travelers to visit one of the top tourist destinations in the country and now there’s even more access for business travelers to cultivate ties in the financial, high-tech, research and software sectors ,” said Russ Handy, Aviation Director for the City of San Antonio.

The new service will greatly benefit business travelers seeking a same-day option, as the 9:00 a.m. departure and 10:00 p.m. return provide same day travel. The flight will be operated with a 160-seat B737-800 aircraft. Tickets go on sale Oct.  8, 2018 for service beginning on Feb. 14, 2019.

American is the second-largest carrier at the airport in terms of annual passengers. This is the second city in the Northeast expanding its connection to San Antonio, as a new nonstop flight to Philadelphia began earlier this year.
