SAN ANTONIO (Oct. 10, 2018) — Councilwoman Rebecca J. Viagran is delighted for District 3 to host another Restored by Light event on Friday, October 12 at 9101 Graf Rd. For the first time, Mission San Juan will experience the exciting and elaborate projections just as Mission San Jose and Mission Concepción have in past events. The free event, presented by the Office of Historic Preservation, Brooks, San Antonio Missions National Historical Park, San Antonio 300 and Freeman, will include Mission tours, activities for children, food trucks and beverages provided by Southerleigh. Through illumination and projection, Mission San Juan will be decorated in bright color and culturally inspired frescos created by San Antonio artist Louis Vega. The event will begin at 6 p.m. and the show will start promptly at 7:45 p.m.
“Restored by Light is a way to step back in time to celebrate the history of Mission San Juan and our community,” said Councilwoman Viagran. “This event gives our residents and community a glimpse of the past in a modern way. The Missions truly are our past, present and future.”
Free parking and shuttle service will be available at 8700th block of Mission Road at Acequia. Access is available from the west by taking S.E. Military Dr. to Mission Rd. For more information, please visit www.RestoredByLight.com.
