SAN ANTONIO (Nov. 1, 2018) — On Saturday November 3, Councilwoman Rebecca J. Viagran and staff will host the 6th Annual Fall Fest 5K at the new Greenline Park. There will be food trucks, yoga, vendors, family friendly activities and free shirts provided to the first 400 participants to check-in.
For the sixth consecutive year the Councilwoman has hosted the 5K for free to District 3 and San Antonio residents to promote health and wellness. More than 500 runners and walkers participate each year and 900 are expected for 2018.
“We wanted to create an inclusive and health conscious opportunity for all economic levels of residents to participate in,” said Viagran. “When I was elected I made commitment to serve the Southside of San Antonio which means tackling the health and equity disparity in our community.”
Each race has been held at a different location to expose residents to the many opportunities to be active in District 3. This year’s race will be held at Greenline Park, 2532 Sidney Brooks, San Antonio, TX 78235, on the Brooks campus. Registration and check in will begin at 6:15 a.m.
The Fall Fest 5K is open to runners and walkers of all levels and leashed pets. The race will be timed all participants will receive a chip and those placing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd will be recognized in an awards ceremony following the race.
Registration/Check-In: 6:15 – 8:00 a.m.
Warmup and Stretch: 8:30 -8:40 a.m.
Race Starts: 8:40 a.m.
Cool Down Stretch: 10:00 a.m.
Awards Ceremony: 10:45 a.m.
