SAN ANTONIO (Nov. 12, 2018) — District 3 Councilwoman Rebecca J. Viagran issued the following statement recognizing Veterans Day and honoring those who have served our country:

“San Antonio has a rich history of military presence that dates back to almost 300 years. It’s why we have the honor of calling ourselves Military City USA and Purple Heart City. We are also home to the Department of Defense’s largest joint base, Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA), and the military’s top Level I Trauma Center, Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC).  JBSA houses Lackland Air Force Base which conducts Basic Military Training for all enlisted Air Force members. JBSA is also the home of the 12th Flying Training Wing who is the only unit in the Air Force conducting both pilot instructor training and combat systems officer training.”

"Every November, our nation comes together to honor the brave women and men who have served our great nation. I cannot thank our servicemen and their families enough for putting their lives at risk to protect our country and our values,” said Councilwoman Rebecca Viagran “On behalf of the City of San Antonio and District 3; I would like to express my sincere gratitude to those who have volunteered to don the uniform of our Armed Services. Your dedication and sacrifices has protected our ways of life and freedoms for future generations of Americans.”
