SAN ANTONIO (Dec. 27, 2018) – “I am deeply saddened at the passing of County Commissioner Paul Elizondo, he was a pillar of San Antonio’s Westside community and a steadfast advocate for our City and our County.
He was a personal friend, an icon of San Antonio politics and a guiding presence during our City and County’s recent economic surge. His influence will be missed and his mark on the future of Bexar County will be felt for generations – he played a significant role in the success of the University Hospital District, the Center for Health Care Management, the Elmendorf Lake redevelopment, numerous flood control projects, modernizing the county justice system, and the San Pedro Creek redevelopment.
His passing is untimely, as he and I were actively working on several District 5 initiatives such as the West Commerce Street Gateway and opioid crises intervention.
There are many people in our community who will fondly remember him and his orchestra playing at their wedding receptions or daughter’s quinceanera.
Our most heartfelt condolences go out to the Elizondo family. We will all do well to remember and emulate his true and dedicated service to our community.
I will miss him greatly.”
