SAN ANTONIO (Jan. 16, 2019) — Mayor Ron Nirenberg announced today that Erik Walsh has been proposed as the finalist for the City Manager position. The naming of the proposed finalist followed City Council interviews with eight applicants, two of whom advanced in the process.
“Erik has advanced from budget analyst to Deputy City Manager during his 24 years with the city, demonstrating strong leadership abilities and a collaborative spirit while rising through the ranks,” Mayor Nirenberg said. “His skill and experience overseeing crucial public safety departments will enable him to serve San Antonio well.”
“Both finalists brought extraordinarily strong credentials and ability to the table. The city would be in good hands with either of these talented leaders, but after much discussion it was clear that Erik is best prepared to address the issues and circumstances facing San Antonio today.”
The proposed finalist will be available to answer questions from the media at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 17 at the Municipal Plaza Building in the hall outside the City Council Chambers. Media who plan to attend can contact Thea Setterbo at firstname.lastname@example.org.
