SAN ANTONIO (Jan. 30, 2019) — City Council on Thursday will consider the appointment of Erik Walsh as City Manager and the approval of his employment contract, Mayor Ron Nirenberg announced.
“Erik is a proven leader who has advanced through the ranks during his 24 years at City Hall,” Mayor Nirenberg said. “He is well prepared to take the reins as city manager, and I am confident he will do a stellar job. His experience and proven skill will enable him to serve the city well.”
City Council will consider approval of a contract with Walsh setting his salary at $312,000. Under the terms of the contract, he will become City Manager on March 1.
The contract also includes provisions setting Walsh’s expenses and benefits. The final draft of the contract is available on the City’s agenda page.
Walsh was named the proposed finalist for City Manager on Jan. 16. Under the terms of a City Charter amendment approved by voters last year, his tenure cannot exceed eight years.
