San Antonio (Feb. 14, 2019) – American Airlines (AA) launched its new daily nonstop service from San Antonio International Airport (SAT) to New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) on Valentine’s Day with a special celebration for passengers at the gate.
Cupid made a guest appearance, delivering chocolates to passengers as they boarded the 160-seat B737-800 aircraft on the day widely known for romance.
More than 300,000 travelers fly between SAT and New York City each year. The new flight departs daily at 9:00am and offers a 10:00pm same-day return option.
“Before today, New York City was our largest underserved market from San Antonio. This new service makes it even more convenient for passengers to efficiently travel between San Antonio and the east coast for business, leisure, or to connect to international destinations,” said Russ Handy, Aviation Director for the City of San Antonio.
American Airlines serves eight destinations with nonstop service from SAT with 26-peak-day departures that reach eight of American’s ten hubs. American Airlines is the second-largest carrier at SAT in terms of annual passengers.
