SAN ANTONIO (Feb. 21, 2019) – “Today the City Council reviewed a Council Consideration Request from Councilmember Pelaez to commission a study of the Bexar County Appraisal District (BCAD), its property valuations and its service levels for our San Antonio homeowners. This review is critical to ensuring BCAD is properly assessing the appropriate valuation of homes in our City. Outrageous property value increases are hurting homeowners and families and we must offer property tax relief immediately. For two years, Councilman Perry and I have been fighting for a City homestead exemption and tax rate reductions. This is a great step to determining how we can save taxpayers money and protect their homes. Unfortunately, the City Council decided to postpone the study today, but I am confident it will begin as soon as funding and the process for review are finalized.”
