SAN ANTONIO (March 8, 2019) — Construction is underway for the South Flores Pedestrian Crossing Project, a much anticipated project that City Councilwoman Rebecca J. Viagran, Transportation and Capital Improvements (TCI), and District 3 residents have been working on together for two years. The conversation began with residents of the Lewis Chatham Apartments in August of 2016, to discuss the pedestrian safety issues and implementation of a permanent, safe, ADA crosswalk for residents to use.
“I am incredibly proud of the District 3 residents who identified an issue, organized, and worked together with my office to address this matter. It also took the approval of the Citywide Bond Package in 2017 to allocate $200,000 of Pedestrian Mobility funds for this project,” said Councilwoman Viagran. “Thank you to the committed residents who have been patient throughout this entire process while attending meetings, absorbing the data, and for continuously providing thorough and helpful feedback for the design of this project.”
Construction for this project is scheduled to be completed in April 2019 and will provide a protected location for residents to safely cross this section of South Flores. For more information and updates on this project please contact the District 3 Field Office at 210-207-0969 or email@example.com.
