SAN ANTONIO (March 20, 2019) - Today is the first day of spring and flowers aren’t the only thing growing this season! As winter comes to an end, the weather becomes warmer and many female animals come into heat. During the following months, we can expect an overwhelming amount of kitten and puppy litters coming into the shelter, so we need the community’s help.
A list of needed supplies can be found at our Amazon donation link at https://amzn.to/2UH2XXz and foster parents are needed to assist with litters in that lifesaving program. During San Antonio’s litter season many residents report finding seemingly abandoned kittens or puppies. Animal Care Services has created a special educational video that details what should be done when this occurs and it can be found on the shelters website at SAACS.net . Additionally, free and low cost spay and neuter information can also be found on the website and residents are urged to sterilize their pets as this is the only 100% means of combating unintended litters.
