SAN ANTONIO (March 21, 2019) — Today, Councilwoman Rebecca J. Viagran and City Council approved The Partner & Design Construction Agreement between National Park Services (NPS) and City of San Antonio for the Stinson Hike & Bike Trail. Through this agreement NPS and Stinson Municipal Airport are able to work together as partners to connect the Mission Trail along the San Antonio River with Stinson Municipal Airport.
The project will design and construct a hike a bike trail to connect the airport and its amenities to the Mission Reach project and access to the UNESCO World Heritage Mission.
“I am extremely proud to celebrate this partnership agreement,” said Councilwoman Viagran. “It is important for residents and visitors to have direct access when enjoying the Mission Reach and this partnership allows them to walk right up to Stinson’s door,” said Councilwoman Viagran.
This partnership will allow Stinson to add a pedestrian foot bridge to cross the Acequia De Espada which is located on land owned by NPS. The two parties will work together to meet NPS standards, regulations, and management plans.
