SAN ANTONIO (March 29, 2019) – According to the latest industry travel statistics, San Antonio International Airport (SAT) broke records for passenger numbers yet again in February, a month that is typically slow for air travel. A total of 706,450 passengers flew through the airport in February, a 6% increase and the first time SAT has exceeded 700,000 passengers during the month. The airport saw increases in both domestic and international travelers.
“This is the 32nd month of record setting growth and it reflects our growing, diverse community and our efforts to expand air service options for our customers,” said Russ Handy, Aviation Director for the City of San Antonio.
Air cargo for the month weighed in at 22,891,405 tons, the first February since 2012 SAT has moved that much cargo.
Much of the growth can be attributed to a healthy economy, the attractiveness of San Antonio and multiple airlines increasing capacity during February.
