SAN ANTONIO (April 22, 2019) — The City of San Antonio’s Department of Neighborhood and Housing Services (NHSD) launched a publicly accessible online database of all active Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ) projects that the department monitors. This information demonstrates the City’s commitment to best practices for government agencies and increases existing transparency efforts which have been a priority for the City of San Antonio.
The database provides links to each TIRZ project incentive agreement, project developers, project locations, TIRZ funding amount, private investment commitments, project description, and other contractual terms.
NHSD is the third City department to post its incentive agreements online. The first two were the Economic Development Department and the Center City Development and Operations Department.
“TIRZ projects enhance the City’s economic vitality and are carefully vetted to ensure the level of public support is appropriate for the total investment,” Director of Neighborhood and Housing Services Department director, Veronica Soto said. “Sharing executed agreements and placing them in one easily accessible digital space is another way to enhance transparency around TIRZ incentives.”
All active TIRZ agreements managed by NHSD are now available here: https://www.sanantonio.gov/NHSD/TIF.
