SAN ANTONIO (July 25, 2019) –  San Antonio International Airport (SAT) couldn’t wait until December 25 to celebrate Christmas, so July 25 was just perfect to transform the terminals for the first  Christmas in July celebration.

Throughout the day, SAT distributed hundreds of gifts to passengers from four different flights as they waited for their luggage at baggage claim. Gifts were filled with small tokens of appreciation from the airport and local concessionaires including Auntie Anne’s Cookies, Vino Volo and several airlines.

“Today’s event was a fun and festive way for SAT, the airlines and our concessionaires to show our appreciation for travelers and welcome them to San Antonio,” said Russ Handy, Aviation Director for the City of San Antonio. “We were happy to see travelers participating in this unique summer celebration. It was one more way we could help take away some of the stress of traveling.”

Christmas in July featured a Tropical Santa, Christmas trees with holiday decorations and a décor contest with trophies presented to United, American and Southwest Airlines. Travelers were also treated with holiday music in both terminals and baggage claim from Ms. Noel-it-all, Henry Brun and the Latin and the Joe Posada Duo.

“Today’s holiday summer event is a great example of how Texas friendly our airport is and it showcases the talent of our employees and airport partners,” said Matt Evans, Arts and Culture Manager for the San Antonio Airport System.

Plans are underway for the next airport celebration.
