SAN ANTONIO (August 8, 2019) – The proposed Fiscal Year (FY) 2020 Operating and Capital Budget was announced today and it provides $ 2.9 Billion to public services and programs that enhance the quality of life for San Antonio residents. The balanced budget proposal maintains the City’s focus on its core mission: providing quality services and resources towards service delivery plans, targeted investments and continued improvements.
This budget sets the City’s proposed maintenance and operations tax rate and the City’s proposed debt service tax of taxable valuation as recommended in the FY 2020 Proposed Budget. There isn’t an increase in the City’s property tax rate and also takes into account the upcoming new local homestead exemption unanimously approved by City Council in June 2019.
“This is a good and healthy starting point as we continue to discuss the proposed budget with the residents of District 3 and the City,” said Councilwoman Viagran “I am proud that we are giving some tax relief to home owners and continue our focus on a needs-based budget.”
