City of San Antonio Department of Human Services Celebrating National Senior Center Month

SAN ANTONIO (September 3, 2019) – September is National Senior Center Month, an opportunity to showcase the City of San Antonio Department of Department of Human Services’ Senior Centers and promote a positive image of aging.

 

The 2019 theme is “Senior Centers: The Key to Aging Well!” Human Services’ Senior Services Division is observing this month-long celebration with various activities.

 

All 10 comprehensive senior center sites will showcase activities and have information about their senior center during an open house Thursday, September 5, from 9 to 11 a.m. Everyone is welcome to enjoy free refreshments, tour the facility, and learn about classes and programs. The centers will have registration for new members.

Media are invited to Alicia Treviño-López Senior Center on Wednesday, September 4, during regular hours – 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. – to capture b-roll of activities and promote the open houses on Thursday.

 

The Department of Human Services, Senior Services Division helps San Antonio’s multi-generational senior community lead active, independent and engaged lives through comprehensive nutrition, wellness, education and more. Every day in San Antonio, seniors, 60 years of age and older are participating in an exciting array of free programs and services specifically designed for older adults.

 

The comprehensive senior centers are open Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
