SAN ANTONIO (September 4, 2019) – San Antonio Public Library (SAPL) joins the American Library Association (ALA), and libraries nationwide, in celebrating National Library Card Sign-Up Month during the month of September.
In its 33rd year, National Library Card Sign-Up Month is a time when the ALA and all libraries raise awareness about the important role that libraries play in child development as well as in their pursuit of education.
Bexar County residents can sign-up for a library card in person by visiting SAPL locations.
Getting your library card in person:
- Stop by a SAPL location
- Present a photo ID and/or proof of current address – such as a valid driver’s license
- If your photo ID does not include your current address, you can use something like a utility bill if it includes your current address.
- Children under 18 may be issued cards if accompanied by a parent or guardian with a photo ID and proof of current address
Those interested in immediate access to SAPL’s digital catalog can sign-up for 30-day access through the online registration form.
A SAPL card allows you to do more than just borrow books and other materials. Your library card provides you with thousands of resources, including magazines, tools to research your family tree, and even download free digital media – like audiobooks and music.
Visit the Library’s Facebook page (www.facebook.com/mysapl) to win weekly prizes during National Library Card Sign-Up Month and to learn about upcoming programs and events. For more information about National Library Card Sign-Up month and how to obtain a library card, please visit www.mysapl.org/
