SAN ANTONIO (Oct. 15, 2019) — District 2 Councilwoman Jada Andrews-Sullivan released the following statement regarding the recent passing of first responder Greg Garza:
“Today was a devastating day for the City of San Antonio. Stunned—my heart aches at the loss of Greg Garza, who devoted 17 years of service to the San Antonio Fire Department and to our city. On behalf of District 2, I offer my deepest and most heart-felt prayers and condolences to the friends, family, and colleagues of Greg and hope they find peace during this time.
Greg will be remembered for his spirit, his positive energy, and his willingness to lead with courage. We offer our prayers and condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones who will feel this loss the most.
To our neighbors, the family of San Antonio, when you see our first responders in action, please allow them to keep you safe, and keep them safe by slowing down, moving over, practicing caution, and allowing a safe distance when they are responding to the call of duty.
Lastly, let this serve as a reminder of the sacrifices our first responders and their families make every single day. We thank you for your service, and for the love you show us in your care and dedication to the work you do in keeping each of us safe.”
