Celebrate Día de los Muertos with FREE events at Market Square!

SAN ANTONIO (October 22, 2019) – Celebrate Día de los Muertos (“Day of the Dead”) at Market Square on November 1-3!



Día de los Muertos is a centuries old tradition focused on celebrating departed ones’ time on earth. The FREE weekend celebration brings together traditional art and culture and lively processions. Bring the family out to enjoy festive children’s activities, face painting, live music, food, arts and crafts vendors, and unique shopping. Stop by Centro de Artes, located in Market Square, to view unique Day of the Dead art exhibitions. Learn more about Día de los Muertos by visiting five uniquely themed altars throughout Historic Market Square.



Día de los Muertos FREE Celebration at Historic Market Square (514 W. Commerce Street):


Friday, November 1, 4 p.m. – 10 p.m.: FREE Family Movie Night featuring “The Book of Life” kicks off at sunset at Market Square. Bring the kids for a family-friendly celebration of Día de Los Muertos with festive food, live music, and a sugar skull workshop from 4 – 7 p.m.


Saturday, November 2, 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.; & Sunday, November 2, 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.: The FREE weekend celebration brings together traditional art and culture, including several beautiful altars to honor the departed and a lively procession ritual. Bring the family out to enjoy festive children’s activities, face painting, live music, food, arts and crafts vendors, and unique shopping.
