International Downtown Association Awards Top Industry Honor to City of San Antonio Planning

SAN ANTONIO (October 30, 2019) – During its 65th Annual Conference and Tradeshow in Baltimore, MD, the International Downtown Association (IDA) recognized the City of San Antonio Planning Department and lead consultant MIG, Inc. with the Downtown Achievement Pinnacle Award for their work and initiatives related to SA Tomorrow Comprehensive Plan and Sub-Area Planning.



Each year, IDA recognizes outstanding projects as winners of the Downtown Achievement Awards which identify improvements to urban centers by dedicated organizations around the globe. The industry’s highest recognition, the Pinnacle Award, represents the most creative and inspiring innovations in urban place management. SA Tomorrow Comprehensive Plan and Sub-Area Planning won in the category of Pinnacle Award this year.



 


The SA Tomorrow Comprehensive Plan, created through a coordinated community-based process in 2016, serves as a long range vision for San Antonio by providing strategic direction for decision making and community investment. Following its adoption in 2016, the Planning Department is working alongside communities for Sub-Area Plans for 13 Regional Centers and 17 Community Areas that collectively encompass the City of San Antonio.
