Councilwoman Adriana Rocha Garcias Celebrates 150 Days in Office by distributing 150 turkeys to the District 4 Community

SAN ANTONIO (November 15, 2019) – Councilwoman Adriana Rocha Garcia commemorated her 150th day as the District 4 representative by distributing 150 turkeys to community organizations and schools. This annual tradition began in 2011 and is an event many in the community appreciate as the holiday season commences.

Food scarcity and food deserts are a serious concern for families who live below the poverty line. Councilwoman Rocha Garcia commented, “Providing part of a holiday meal to families helps them incur one less expense during this holiday season and I hope it builds the tradition of giving and gratitude.”

On the eve of the Hunger and Homelessness Week, Councilwoman Rocha Garcia hopes to continue providing support and informing residents of organizations who help individuals and families experiencing setbacks, hardships or other unexpected events affecting their well-being. Since the launch of SACRD.org in mid-August, Councilwoman Rocha Garcia is committed to promoting this directory of resources offered by congregations, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and compassionate groups in and around San Antonio. Residents are now able to find resources ranging from food pantries, shelters, utility assistance, counseling services and many other services.
