SAN ANTONIO (Jan. 22, 2020) - Today, Councilwoman Rebecca J. Viagran submitted a Council Consideration Request (CCR) requesting a name change from the Mayor’s Commission on the Status of Women to San Antonio’s Commission on the Status of Women. The name change does not change the group’s role, but clarifies the magnitude of the committee and affirms its strategic purpose of representing and amplifying women and women’s issues for the entire City. Here is her statement:

“I ask my fellow Council Colleagues to consider supporting this request to change the name in order to demonstrate the work of the commission does not belong to one specific office, but to the entire city. My hope is to have this moving for completion in March 2020 for Women’s History Month and to honor the 100 year anniversary of the ratification of the 19th amendment.”
