SAN ANTONIO (April 1, 2020) - Councilwoman Viagran released the following statement on the COVID-19 outbreak at a nursing home in District 3:
We are deeply saddened about the update that residents of the Southeast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center located in District 3 were affected by a COVID-19 outbreak. One nursing home resident passed away yesterday from COVID-19 related complications. We are distressed to hear that 12 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed at the facility. On behalf of the District 3 community, we express our deepest sympathy for the family and loved ones of the patient who passed, as well as the families of everyone who has been affected by this outbreak.
The health of our residents and the community is our top priority, and we will continue working together to care for and protect the safety and health of our residents.
As you receive and reflect on this news, let it serve as a reminder to stay home and only leave for essential reasons. We need to work together to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and keep one another safe and healthy.
In the City of San Antonio and District 3 we will continue to protect and serve our community. The precautions the City has put into place are for the protection of our seniors and our community as a whole.
