SAN ANTONIO (May 19, 2020) — As part of the recommendations included in the “COVID-19 Health and Economic Transition Team Report: A Guide to Reopening San Antonio and Bexar County,” the City of San Antonio will provide COVID-19 safety supply kits to help small businesses and nonprofits prepare to reopen. Small businesses and nonprofits in the City of San Antonio can register for free supplies as part of the “Greater. SAfer. Together. Supply Pickup Day” on May 27 at the Alamodome.
“The San Antonio business community has shown remarkable resiliency, creativity and adaptability throughout this unprecedented situation,” said Mayor Ron Nirenberg. “As our City begins to gradually reopen, we are committed to ensuring that our local small businesses and nonprofit organizations have the resources they need to reopen in a way that will keep us all safe, so we can be stronger and greater together.”
Registration is now open at covid19.sanantonio.gov/reopening. Qualifying participants can also register by calling 311 between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Quantities are limited. Registrations are accepted on a first come, first served basis.
The supplies in each kit include:
- One non-contact thermometer
- Two gallons of hand sanitizer
- Face masks
Qualifying small businesses and nonprofits must have a public-serving location within the City of San Antonio. Additional requirements are as follows:
- Must have been impacted by state or local COVID-19 executive order closure requirements
- Must have been in operation prior to March 1, 2020
- Must have no more than 25 employees (full or part time) or contract workers
Participants must register and provide a 10-digit confirmation code the day of the event to pick up supplies. Small businesses and nonprofits also have the option to receive the non-contact thermometer by mail if they are unable to pick up supplies in person on May 27. This option is included in the registration process.
Small businesses and sole proprietors within suburban cities and unincorporated areas of Bexar County can apply for supplies through Bexar County’s COVID-19 Essential Items Bag Program by going to bexar.org.
