SAN ANTONIO (October 23, 2020) — Councilwoman Sandoval, the UT Health chapter of Frontera de Salud, and Metro Health have partnered together to host a free drive-thru flu clinic. This event will take place October, 24, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Villarreal Elementary School, 2902 White Tail Drive, in District 7.
“This flu season, getting your flu shot isn’t just about keeping yourself safe—it’s about keeping your family safe, too. Less flu in the community means fewer people in our hospitals. Our hospitals need to be prepared for a possible winter wave of COVID-19,” said Councilwoman Ana Sandoval. “I’m grateful to the students of Frontera de Salud and Metro Health for making this event possible.”
“This year we know that the flu and COVID 19 will be co-circulating in our community this upcoming season. We need to work together to maximize the prevention of co-infections. We want the public to know that getting the flu vaccine is more important than ever this season.” said Dr. Anita K Kurian, Assistant Director of Metro Health.
"Frontera de Salud is excited to have the opportunity to serve our San Antonio community and provide flu vaccines in this critical season,” said Jessica Wong, We are grateful for the support of Councilwoman Sandoval and Metro Health, and we hope to raise awareness on the importance of vaccinations in keeping our neighbors healthy."
People seeking a free flu vaccine must register at nocostflushots.eventbrite.com. Registration is first come, first served. There are enough vaccines for 240 people.
Face masks and an ID are required. No animals are allowed on campus.
