SAN ANTONIO (December 15, 2020) – San Antonio Public Library (SAPL) and the San Antonio Public Library Foundation (SAPLF) are partnering with Snack Pak 4 Kids San Antonio (SP4KSA) to offer a pilot program that will provide healthy snacks to children and teens ages four to 18 at six SAPL locations.
The program is available during Contact-Free Pickup hours (see below for details) at Central Library and Bazan, Carver, Collins Garden, Memorial and Westfall Branch Libraries from December 16, 2020 through January 30, 2021. A Library card is not required to receive a snack.
The Snack Pak program will support families during the extended winter break period when meals are not available due to school being out of session, and provide relief for those experiencing an unprecedented level of food insecurity due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The goal of this partnership is to help fight the hunger of children and teens and in the process, facilitate learning,” said Ramiro S. Salazar, San Antonio Public Library Director. “Libraries are at the heart of our communities and we are proud to be able to provide for our community beyond our service efforts by partnering with other community organizations. I encourage children and teens to check out books when they pick up their snack so they can read over the winter break.”
In conjunction with Snack Pak 4 Kids partnership, the San Antonio Public Library Foundation will be gifting drawstring backpacks which include a free book and activity sheet.
To pick up a Snack Pak, visit a participating branch during Contact-Free Pickup hours (listed below). Please call the location upon arrival.
Dates and Times to pick up Snack Paks:
Tuesdays: noon – 7 p.m.
