SAN ANTONIO (February 23, 2021) — Today, the District 3 team volunteered with the San Antonio Food Bank to help hundreds of families in need. Water and food commodities were distributed at Brooks on the City’s South Side. This was a drive through event and all participants followed COVID-19 safety protocols. Residents were able to pre-register in advance as well as register onsite.
“Food insecurity has been on the rise with Covid-19 and now with the winter storm, our community needs help more than ever,” stated Councilwoman Viagran. “The San Antonio Food Bank has been working extremely hard to help people in need and District 3 is grateful to be able to volunteer today and lend a helping hand. We as a community need to check on our friends, family, and neighbors during this time. We have seen San Antonio come together in so many ways, we take care of one another, and it really makes me proud to live here.”
The City of San Antonio, Bexar County and the San Antonio Food Bank opened a total of 13 bottled water distribution sites that will be open until Saturday, March 6, 2021. These sites will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visit sanantonio.gov to learn more about bottled water distribution sites. For volunteer information, please visit safoodbank.org.
