SAN ANTONIO (Apr. 12, 2021) – On Friday, April 16, the Farmers Market Building located at Historic Market Square will reopen to the public.
The Farmers Market Plaza Building was temporarily closed for three months to allow for maintenance and repairs while the rest of Historic Market Square remained open, including shops and restaurants. The City granted a rent abatement and provided alternate vending opportunities to Farmers Market Plaza tenants through a “Pop Up Mercado” at Centro de Artes during the Farmers Market Plaza building’s temporary closure.
The reopening of the Farmers Market Plaza Building is the perfect occasion to dine and shop downtown with family and friends while supporting local businesses at Market Square. Visitors can expect a unique marketplace experience full of artisans, local cafes, and unique shops offering handcrafted items such as pottery, leather, art and keepsakes. The April hours of operation will be Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., and closed Tuesday and Wednesday. Market Square will continue to adhere to COVID-19 safety protocols, including requiring all guests to wear masks as well as social distancing protocols.
