SAN ANTONIO (May 11, 2021) — Yesterday, the District 3 team along with community partners, helped distribute meals, bags of fresh produce, flowers, and sweet treats to 300 seniors at the South Side Lions Senior Center for the Dia De Las Madres event in honor of Mother’s Day. This was a drive-thru event and all participants followed COVID-19 safety protocols.

“Mother’s Day is a special day, and it was wonderful to celebrate our seniors with fresh produce, flowers and sweet treats.   This event was a nice way to remind our seniors how special they are and how we miss seeing them on a regular basis.  Our seniors are the heart of our community and It was so nice to see smiles on their faces as they received these items.  I would like to extend a big thank you to Gonzaba Medical Group, United Healthcare and Mogo Insurance Group for adding to our weekly senior distribution, we are thankful for your partnership.”

Some senior centers operated by the City of San Antonio Department of Human Services have re-opened with limited capacity, but others remain closed until further notice. For a full list of locations that are open at a limited capacity, visit www.covid19.sanantonio.gov/resources/additional/seniors.  Seniors enrolled at the Senior Centers and needing a meal may contact their Senior Center  for services or call 210.207.7172
