We are excited to announce that the S.T.A.R. event will take place on October 6, 2018 in the Dignowity Hill Historic District!
Students from the University of Texas San Antonio College of Architecture (UTSA) and San Antonio College (SAC) —in coordination with the City of San Antonio Office of Historic Preservation (OHP) —will participate in an annual service project called S.T.A.R. (Students Together Achieving Revitalization) to assist homeowners. For Fall 2018, we will be working in the Dignowity Hill Historic District.
The students will be lead by volunteer professionals to perform minor repairs and maintenance to the exterior of qualifying homes. Work may include repairs to wood windows, wood siding, and wood porches as well as general exterior yard maintenance and exterior painting. We will complete as much work as possible in order to assist the homeowner in rehabilitating their historic home. Four (4) to six (6) houses will be selected to participate depending on availability of students, volunteer professionals, and staff resources.
You can get involved in two ways: lead a team of students as a volunteer contractor or support the event as a sponsor. Rehabber Club members who participate in S.T.A.R. will earn credits that build their Rehabber Club status. This event is a great way to build recognition within the community while educating the next generation of rehabbers! Email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
