“To facilitate relational collaboration, active partnerships and networked services between the San Antonio faith community, government agencies, non-profit organizations and community groups towards improving the lives of families and communities in need.” is the focus and vision of the Faith-Based initiative.
In the City for Good
2016 - City Council approved creation of a Faith-Based Initiative.
2017 - A Community Faith-Based Liaison position was added to the Department of Human Services 2017 Fiscal Budget to implement and lead the Initiative.
June 2017 - City Council approved a resolution affirming the Charter for Compassion and authorized registration with the International Campaign for Compassionate Cities. The campaign is inspired by the Golden Rule, which calls on each person to treat others as he or she wishes to be treated.
The San Antonio Faith-Based Initiative will carry the work forward to foster compassion with the support of other public, private, community and faith-based organizations.
