The City of San Antonio Department of Human Services Family Assistance Division administers support to the adult literacy and education initiative through seven citywide Community Learning Centers (CLC’s), funded by a 1989 voter approved bond issue.

The CLCs provide educational services to adults, which are made possible through an extensive collaboration with Education Service Center/Region 20, San Antonio Independent School District, North East Independent School District, and a variety of community resources.

The goal of the CLCs is to offer educational and technology opportunities to enable individuals to enhance their ability to read, write, and converse in English, and solve problems at levels of proficiency necessary to function on the job and in society.
