SAN ANTONIO (July 11, 2018) – The South Alamo Regional Alliance for the Homeless (SARAH) unanimously selected Brenda Mascorro as its next Executive Director. She succeeds Founding Executive Director Bill Hubbard.
“In the last three years SARAH has created community collaboration around efforts to effectively end veteran homelessness, increased funding for homelessness from the Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD), and implemented a community-wide coordinated entry system so that every person experiencing homelessness is prioritized for the right resource. As the housing market tightens, the challenge to find safe, affordable housing is a growing concern. Ms. Mascorro has the expertise and desire to tackle these complex issues and help all our partner agencies find solutions,” said Craig Hopkins, SARAH Board President.
Mascorro’s background uniquely positions her to assume this post as SARAH’s second Executive Director. With significant experience in affordable housing, fund development, policy research and organizational development, Mascorro will advance SARAH’s current strategic plan to make homelessness a rare, brief, and nonrecurring event in San Antonio.
“I believe in the power of the community to make positive changes in the lives of others. My desire is to serve the community by aiding those who are in need through the development of effective service systems,” Mascorro said.
She has served on the SARAH Board of Directors since 2017 and through her personal, professional and educational experience, she will be a great asset to the broader community’s efforts to end homelessness.
