Overview

The graph below displays the source of San Antonio’s electricity generation from 2008 to 2019. In order to power homes and businesses, a combination of renewables, coal, gas and nuclear are utilized.

Presentation

The bar chart displays trends in the mix of power sources that provide electricity in San Antonio. In 2008, the generation mix consisted of 40.4% coal, 36.2% nuclear, 16% gas and 7.4% renewables. As market conditions change, the sources of power also changes. In 2019, the percentage of coal decreased to 22% and renewables (e.g. wind and solar) increased to 15%.
