Solid Waste Manager
Salvador E. Ytuarte is the Solid Waste Manager for the department's Drop-Off Centers and Route Inspectors where he oversees two brush recycling centers, four bulky drop-off centers, and two household hazardous waste drop-off centers, as well as the dead animal collection crew and a team of over 30 route inspectors.
Mr. Ytuarte began his civil service career in wastewater with the City of San Antonio in 1991 and joined the Solid Waste Management Department in 1993 where he assisted with the citywide manual Recycling Curbside Program. In 1997, he joined the management team as a Solid Waste Collection Route Supervisor, Assistant Solid Waste Area Operations Superintendent, and Solid Waste Area Operations Superintendent. In 2008, Mr. Ytuarte was appointed to the position of Solid Waste District Manager over the city’s Northeast Service Center. He was instrumental in the successful implementation of the citywide automated two-cart collection system and the largest compressed natural gas (CNG) fleet in Texas with 30 automated garbage and recycling trucks. In October 2010, he assumed the position of Solid Waste Manager for the Brush and Bulky Waste Collection Program, and transitioned to his current role in 2019.
Professional Memberships & Community Involvement
Mr. Ytuarte is a member of the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) and is a member of the Urban Management Association of South Texas (UMAST). He is also a member of the International Hispanic Network. Mr. Ytuarte is currently the Grand Knight for Council #7770 and a Sir Knight for Assembly #2040.
Mr. Ytuarte is married to his lovely wife, Virginia, and has two beautiful daughters, Jacqueline and Kimberly.
