Garbage Collection Overview
The City provides solid waste collection services to its customers through an automated curbside collection system. Solid Waste Department customers are provided one 96-gallon cart for the disposal and collection of garbage.Residential garbage is collected once per week. Make sure access to carts is not blocked by vehicles, objects, or overhanging tree limbs. If your brown cart is not serviced on your regular collection day, call 3-1-1.
Do not place hot ashes, coals, concrete, rocks, large pieces of metal, tile, dirt, household hazardous waste (e.g., paint, oils, corrosives, batteries) in the garbage cart. Learn how to dispose of household hazardous waste properly: HHW.
Pay as You Throw
Pay as You Throw is a program that allows residents to choose what size brown garbage cart they want based on the amount of garbage they throw away. Much like a utility bill, residents pay for what they use. Three brown carts are available to choose from.
Remember, you can always downsize your cart at no cost. You can also request one cart upsize at no cost. Additional cart upsizes are $25 per occurrence.
You can also request additional collection pickup for $10. To request an additional pickup, please call 207-6428.
The Pay as You Throw program rollout will take 18 months. Residents not in the first phase of the rollout will continue to pay $20.93 per month for garbage collection.
